Channel Rock is a unique retreat centre located on a spectacular 140-acre conservancy on Cortes Island in British Columbia, Canada. Nestled among an organic garden, a heritage orchard, the forest and coastal shores, are the simple yet stunning rental facilities constructed with all natural materials. Channel Rock is completely off the grid and relies primarily on solar power and is an idyllic venue for sustainable and green retreats.

Channel Rock retreat centre offers comfort and intimacy in an enchanting wilderness setting, yet is a rental facility with all the amenities. It can host workshops and retreats for groups of 8 to 40 people. It's a perfect setting for writers' and artists' retreats, for yoga and meditation retreats, or for anyone interested in an off the grid, eco-retreat or holiday with family and friends. Its rental facilities make an ideal destination for accommodating youth, board meetings, seminars, family gatherings and other specialty groups as well as sustainable weddings and other personalized events.

At Channel Rock, you’ll live a little closer to the earth and sea and sky. Our chef will treat you to organic and vegetarian meals. She cooks with the seasons: fresh food daily from our organic garden and orchard, and locally procured salmon and seafood. Gardeners and organic food lovers will be awed and inspired by the Channel Rock organic garden.

Retreat venues are rarely as rich in craftsmanship as those at Channel Rock. Communal buildings have been lovingly handcrafted in the centuries-old traditions of cob, stackwall and timberframe. The hub of Channel Rock is the Cob House, which is home to the beautifully designed kitchen. Under its live roof, is a large, open space for gathering and is a great space for yoga. Other communal buildings include a large sauna and the sky lit Venture House, a cottage that is perched next to the woods with a view of the beach and ocean. It offers both accommodations with a large downstairs gathering space. Guesthouses are in a variety of cabins, yurts, tipis and tents. Due to the construction of the venues with all natural building materials, Channel Rock is a great retreat centre for people with environmental sensitivities.

Located on the west coast of Cortes Island, Channel Rock is within Klahoose First Nation traditional territory and, long before it was an educational retreat centre and rental facility, it was Gilean Douglas' own private coastal retreat. She owned and homesteaded this 140-acres. As a writer, poet and gardener, she lived the latter half of her life at Channel Rock, from 1953 to 1993.

If you seek a green and sustainable island retreat, Channel Rock rental facilities will meet and exceed your needs. It is an island getaway off the beaten track and is perfect for those seeking to escape the stress, noise and pollution of city living. With fresh, delicious, wholesome meals from the organic garden and cozy, natural venues for gathering, you will feel very taken care of and relax into the personal ambiance. Peaceful and simple, Channel Rock's retreat centre offers those who come for an unforgettable stay.
